Check out These Sites for Streaming Fitness Videos

What are some of the top reasons people don't stick with their plan of hitting the gym or fitness center on a regular basis? Do any of these excuses sound familiar?

Fitness Center Hassles

  • The monthly membership is too expensive.
  • It's too crowded.
  • I don't have time to drive there and back.
  • It's not convenient.
I'll be straight up with you. All during the '90s and up until 2005 I was a member of one fitness center or another, but eventually I decided to exercise at home for all the reasons above. Don't get me wrong - I know for some people the gym is a perfect fit and it works for them. I just want people to realize they have another option.

Exercise at Home

Thanks to the internet, people who decide to workout at home have some great resources that can turn their living room into a fitness center. I just read a Los Angeles Times article that lists websites offering streaming video of workouts and fitness classes. This is great info for anybody who wants expert-level instruction from top fitness trainers at a fraction of the cost of a gym membership.

I want to be clear - I haven't tried these sites yet. If you want a review of what they offer, you'll have to check out the LA Times article. This post is simply to let you know they're available. Check out the sites below and do let me know if you've tried any of them.

Websites For Streaming Fitness Classes

  • Daily Burn - cost: $10 per month / $60  per year - Free 30 day trial period
  • FitnessGlo - cost: $12 per month (marketed mostly toward women)
  • GaiamTV - cost: $10 per month - Free 10 day trial period
